Yesterday, the Cloud-Native SIG presented its first-ever webinar, Kubernetes for Research Infrastructure - Core Concepts and Practical Use Cases, as part of the ongoing series hosted by the Accelerated Compute Infrastructure Training Hub (ACIT Hub), which supports Research Infrastructure Engineers (RIEs) across the UK.
Committee members Lewis, Tibor, Piper and Alex were joined by Christopher Green from STFC SC to present a carousel of Kubernetes use cases in digital research infrastructure, based on real-world deployments. The talks covered:
- Kubernetes Overview
- Lab in the Cloud for IoN-DRI @ UCL
- A JupyterHub Training Platform
- Argo Workflows for Containerised Research Data Pipelines
It was great to see such a strong level of interest in the talks, with over 80 of the 92 registrants tuning in. Thank you to Dr Anna Swan from the University of Surrey for organising the event and giving us the opportunity to share our applications of Kubernetes with such a wide audience.
If you missed it, the recording is now available on YouTube, and the slides are available on GitHub.
We expect many of you will be interested in upcoming ACIT Hub events, including a webinar and hackathon focused on bringing Slurm to Kubernetes. See the ACIT Hub Events list for further information.
Our next Cloud-Native SIG appearance will be at RSECon26 on Thursday 11 September, and we hope to see many of you there.
